An iPhone/iPod Touch application that graphically predicts the path of the sun from dusk to dawn, on any given day, in any given place.
Designed as an aid to Cinematographers and Stills Photographers working in natural light, Helios is essential to anyone who needs to plan a day around the constantly changing character of sunlight. Gaffers, Grips, Location Managers, Production Designers and First Assistant Directors will already be aware of the value of this information. Other professionals, from Architects and Surveyors to Electricians and Landscape Gardeners can now predict sun exposure in the field, without the need for complex tables or graphs.
Helios operates in 3 modes
HelioMeter is a graphical representation of the sun’s position on a compass dial (azimuth) for any time of day, showing the sun’s elevation and proportional length of shadow an object would cast.

OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 16.04.2009.
A new series of cine lenses from Carl Zeiss will attract even the most ambitious movie makers who attach prime importance to optical quality without losing sight of budget constraints. High optical performance and ruggedness make the ZEISS Compact Prime lenses reliable tools for the many challenges that movie making has to offer. The PL mount lenses are for now available in seven different focal lengths ranging from 18 to 85 millimeters. They work with all digital and film cine cameras.
Even at first sight, the exceptional features of the lenses are clear for all to see: the lens housing is precisely tailored to the needs of professional cine applications. The ultimate in precision is brought within the user’s grasp. All focus scales are individually calibrated and feature standard housing dimensions as well as standard focus and iris positions. Due to this, matte box, follow focus and lens motor can remain in the same position when the lens is being changed.

We also wanted to open up the opportunity to use Cooke lenses in risky situations such as on-board stunt work because lower cost lenses reduce rental and insurance costs.
Our goals for the new lenses…
