Re: KArthik's post on film scanning

Hi Param, Thanks for the info on the scanning, very informative, didnt know lots of it and thats frightening. The latitude, the color reproduction... - overall the quality of films when compared to digital were never in question. But the fact is that now our control over the latent image has lessene...

Re: Creating a space for alternative films in the mainstream

Yeah online seems to be a good suggestion. In starting anything new, we will need atleast two to three years as gestation period and unless we have deep pockets, we cant really make it feasible. Even this idea of using torrent is very interesting... http://torrentfreak.com/yes-men-use-bittorrent-to-...

Re: Variable Shutters and Flickers

Yeah. To avoid flickers we need a shutter speed equivalent of 1/50 seconds. And since at 24 fps at 180 degrees shutter angle, the shutter speed is 1/48, we have to use shutter angle of 172.8, to get a 1/50 seconds shutter speed when we use normal HMI to avoid flickers.

Re: Variable Shutters and Flickers

Nice article ara. Just that the calculation of 4.17 cycles was a little complicated for me. I have always thought of a different logic. Basically 50hz is 50 complete cycles of the HMI light, i.e., 50 cycles of alternating current and if we dont get a complete cycle we get a flicker. So the need is t...

Will try it some day and post the results. for the same exposure, the image size being the same - for eg - a portfolio, depth of field remains the same irrespective of the focal length used. the chang...
