BENDFILM
FILM FESTIVAL
Bend, Oregon - USA
October 11 to 14, 2007

Set in the recreational haven of Bend, Oregon, and recently named by Moviemaker Magazine as one of 20 "Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee," the 4th Annual BENDFILM FESTIVAL celebrates the independent filmmaker with unheard of hospitality and big cash awards.

BendFilm puts its focus on filmmakers first, with more than $30,000 in cash awards. All competitive entries, regardless of length or category, compete for the coveted $10,000 Best of Show prize. Additional cash awards are presented for Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short ($2,500 each) and Best Student Film ($3,000), as well as the Conservation Award ($2,500) and the Faerie Godmother Award ($4,000) celebrating excellence in filmmaking by a female director. To top it all off, the Audience Award winner receives a percentage of the festival's gross ticket sales; the 2006 prize was $4,776.

Beyond prizes, BendFilm works to help bring filmmakers to the festival, and assists whenever possible with guest housing in private homes and accommodations at host hotels.

The festival weekend is chock-full of parties, receptions and special events that have to be experienced to be believed, ranging form the BendFilm Feed to the Bash at the Box, which morphs BendÕs coolest clothing boutique into the town's coolest nightclub. BendFilm goes over the top for the Awards Ceremony, providing an unforgettable experience for both filmmakers and special guests alike.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The festival utilizes the town of Bend and its natural environment to help create intimate connections among the filmmakers and with the audience in a relaxed, casual atmosphere of accessibility. BendFilm believes that art is best channeled through creative genius not commercial interests, and that film festivals are best experienced in a relaxed atmosphere where the next venue is a block from the last, and "velvet ropes" are non-existent.

In the warm words of the attending media:

“The BendFilm Festival is a destination that festival fairy tales are made of.”
- Moviemaker Magazine, 2006

“Can BendFilm do it? Can it become an important regional or national festival with a reputation for drawing top talent? Signs, as the Magic 8 Ball might say, point to yes.”
- Shawn Levy, chief film critic for The Oregonian
