The 21st Annual DRAGON*CON INDEPENDENT SHORT FILM FESTIVAL takes place at the end of summer in the vibrant southern city of Atlanta, Georgia. The festival coincides with the larger Dragon*Con convention, which attracts an audience of 30,000 to its events and screenings.

Dragon*Con seeks entries in the categories of Animation, Asian, Comedy, Fantasy, Horror, Sci Fi and more. The two best-in-show winners receive a one-year subscription to The Studio System, worth $3000.

Along with the film screenings, filmmakers can attend concerts, costume contests, and a parade. 2007 celebrity speakers and guests will include Sean Astin, Kevin Sorbo, Lance Henriksen, James Marsters, James & Oliver Phelps, and Brent Spiner, as well as representatives from studios large (like Lucas Film) and small (such as Troma).

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
Dragon*Con Independent Short Film Festival focuses each year on showcasing the finest independent short films in the realm of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror films, Mysteries, Thrillers, Film Noirs, Erotica, Alternate Lifestyle, Comedies, and any other films of the imagination that step out of the slice-of-life category - including short animated films of all types.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Films are screened in a great environment (a quiet theater with stadium seating), but it is promised that a filmmaker is never more than 100 yards from a wild party. There are plenty of opportunities for quiet conversation with industry professionals, and even more opportunities to dance, drink, and celebrate. Film screenings and panels start at 9am and continue all night, until 4am.

The event takes place in downtown Atlanta at the Hyatt Regency, the legendary Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and the Atlanta Hilton, and the connected convention center. Dragon*Con also features a huge dealers and exhibitors area.
