In the Spotlight this week is the 21st annual AFI FEST 2007, presented by Audi. The longest running film festival in Los Angeles and one of the most innovative and influential in North America, AFI's attendance tops 60,000 each year.

Spanning 10 days in November, AFI FEST and the American Film Market (AFM) comprise the first concurrent festival/market event in North America. AFM is a marketplace where over $500 million in production and distribution deals are conducted and closed annually, by more than 7,000 entertainment professionals from over 70 countries. Consequently, more International Sales occurred at AFI FEST 2006 than at any other US festival last year.

AFI FEST is a qualifying festival for the Short Film categories of the Academy Awards and presents the most cutting-edge, undiscovered talent in the film world, along with premieres from some of Hollywood's most respected directors. Last year's star-studded premieres included BOBBY, INLAND EMPIRE, and CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER - along with a Tribute to Penelope Cruz accompanying the gala presentation of VOLVER.
