Main pal do pal ka shair hoon | A tribute to Mukesh

Post by Paramvir Singh »

DD National did well to pay singer Mukesh, born Zoravar Chand Mathur, a tribute on his death anniversary. Mukesh had a distinctive voice and created a niche for himself and is rated right alongside the music greats of Hindi filmdom. Starting his career with 'Dil hi bujha hua ho to' and then going on to sing 'Dil jalta hai' in K L Saigal style to many many gems after. I would think Raj Kapoor owes it to him more than the other way round J.  So many gems 'Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein' to 'Maine tere liye' to 'Chin-o-arab hamara' to 'Saranga teri yaad mein' to 'Laut ke aa' to 'Woh tere pyar ka gham' to the absolutely fabulous 'Kahin door jab din dhal jaaye' to 'Jaoon kahan bata ae dil' to 'Raat aur din diya jale' to 'Oh re taal mile' to 'Jeena yahan marna yahan' to… So much more to catch up on. Meanwhile you enjoy this one.
