HATCH AUDIOVISUAL
ARTS FESTIVAL

Bozeman, Montana - USA
October 2 to 7, 2007

The HATCH AUDIOVISUAL ARTS FESTIVAL (HATCHfest) takes place each year in stunning Bozeman, Montana. HATCHfest is different from other film festivals in that it works to connect young, emerging filmmakers with industry professionals who want to give back to the film community.

HATCHfest requires that the ten finalists attend, and the festival pays for all flights and accommodations. Food is provided at various venues throughout the day and a catered guest party each evening.

The festival kicks off with an opening night party in honor of the year's selected filmmakers - or "Groundbreakers" - where they get to meet the jury and other mentors that HATCHfest has invited. The top prize for Groundbreakers is the Moonlight Basin Award for Outstanding Filmmaker, which is a $10,000 cash prize, paired with a $15,000 panavision package. Awards are also given for Editing, Cinematography, Screenwriting and Score.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
HATCH's mission is to provide mentorship, education, inspiration and recoginition to the next generation of creative innovators.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Festival alums have succeeded in big ways. Groundbreaker Peter Templeman's THE SAVIOUR showed at HATCHfest 2005, and was then nominated for an Oscar; Amy Berg's DELIVER US FROM EVIL followed the same path in 2006. Another 2006 Groundbreaker, Moon Molson, has since seen his short POP FOUL pick up honors from Sundance and SXSW, among other festivals.

Bozeman is a destination in its own right, world-renowned for its beautiful and unique landscape. During the film festival, the town's historic Downtown Ellen Theater is the venue for the Awards ceremony and some screenings throughout the week, while the Emerson Cultural Center is where the fest holds screenings, panels, and labs and the Backstage Sessions, in which Groundbreakers meet and chat with their mentors.
