Post by Paramvir Singh »

EDMONTON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Edmonton, Alberta - CANADA
September 28 to October 6, 2007

The 21st Annual EDMONTON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (EIFF) is based in Edmonton, Alberta - a city of one million people, just hours away from the glorious Canadian Rockies.

EIFF's goal is to bring the best, independent cinema to audiences; to discover new, emerging filmmakers; and to inspire their own movie-making community. Edmonton is the number one movie-going city in Canada, the 2007 Cultural City of Canada, and an ideal place for a film festival.

The EIFF team works passionately at making each filmmaker - whether the form is short, feature, or documentary film - feel like a superstar. EIFF filmmakers get the opportunity to screen their films at an intimate, 9-day festival to an audience that is sophisticated and supportive.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE
The Edmonton Film Festival bills itself as international, independent and eye-opening. The Festival is about 'discovery'; the goal is to uncover cinematic gems and celebrate unique voices in movie-making such as directors, writers and producers. EIFF is about films and the people who make them.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Edmonton International Film Festival began in 1986 as "Local Heroes" , a small, 3-day film festival, and has grown over the decades into a thriving 9-day film event of international renown.

Honorees of the event don't go away empty-handed. Audiences vote on the Citytv Canadian Feature, an award that goes to Canadian, feature-length documentary projects and comes with a $3,000 cash prize. Winner of the Best Canadian Short award receives 2,000 feet of film stock, thanks to Kodak Canada, while the Best Alberta Short earns 1,500 feet of film stock, from Frame 30 Productions Ltd.
