i heard to my great amusement that there was a band of bandits who with swords entered the institute and cut down that poor sandalwood tree near the canteen ... and somehow i found it very amusing, all i want to know is was this a true incident ... seems very unlikely unless people inside were involved .. no body was hurt, no hero shit and the tree is gone ...
what is next camera store

Its sad but true...It so happened that 12-15 of them came on a truck. The guards resisted and got beaten....Surprisingly there was no student around at that hour.....Where are all the NISHACHARS of FTII. Anyways the guards shuold have shouted and called for help from the hostel. It takes time to cut a fully grown tree.

the guards are useless anyway....there would be drunks (outside one, not ours) sleeping on the stone benches opposite the Wisdom Tree and they would never know.
All the same, can't believe this happened!!!
Seriously where were the nishachars?????
This is a serious security lapse.

I thought FTII guards were meant only to keep FTII alumni away and not sandalwood bandits!
Would any current student stand-up and inform us about it.
Rather than we, speculating about it here in Mumbai?
If such an incident has happened and if the Registrar is involved, then we can certainly make arrangements to have it replanted.... right up his arse!

The incident really happened....I confirmed with Prateek. The Registrar could not be involved coz he left the Institute befoer the incident happened.

That is naive thinking.
Did you know that 'D' has never killed anyone himself in the past 18 years?
And of course, he has never been here either.
Yet, people have been chopped down.
Kya yaar, Hindi filmein dekhin bilkul hi band kar di kya?
Now, from one amongst you current students reading this, if this incident bothers you, then do take out some precious 15 minutes and mail me a detailed report.
I shall put it up on the Graftii forum.
Cheers,
Vikram

a tree is cut down and you guys say ' i am afraid its true?', 'where is the registrar' etc???
what you shold do is complain to relevant authorities. cutting down a healthy tree is illegal and an act of crime. doesnt matter if it was sandalwood or cactus.
i think you should also report it to the media so that there is pressure on the registrar etc to discourage such acts happening again.
other places to complain:
http://www.karmayog.org
http://www.kalpavriksh.org
you can also complain to PMC.
