GRAFTII ADDA EVENT 1
Posted: Tue Oct 06, 2009 10:57 pm
GraFTII Adda is a platform, which will showcase the work of GraFTII members through film discussions, script analysis, theatre or dance performances, music or poetry reading sessions, painting, photography and other artwork exhibitions. It will also provide a unique forum not only for GraFTII members to meet, but also giving students, industry professionals and interested cine-viewers the opportunity to interact with GraFTII members.
GraFTII Adda will hold events once a month.
Our first event is a viewing and discussion of the film ANTARDWAND. The story inspired by a true incident revolves around the malpractice of groom abduction rampant in Bihar and Eastern UP. The film explores the ugliness of feudal patriarchy and the haplessness of women in this society, in a simple thought-provoking way.
The director Sushil Rajpal works as a cinematographer in advertising and feature films in Mumbai. Other key crewmembers are also from FTII - the Director of Photography Malay Ray, the editor Aseem Sinha and the screenplay-dialogue-lyrics writer Amitabh Verma.
ANTARDWAND won the National Award this year for The Best Film on Social Issues.
GraFTII Adda is proud to launch its program with this film.
Venue: Foundation Hall, Whistling Woods, Film City, Goregaon (East), Mumbai.
Date: Saturday, Oct 10, 2009
Time: 3 pm.
The duration of the film is 114 minutes. This will be followed by a discussion on the film with the filmmaker and his crew for 30 minutes. Those who want to continue the discussion will reconvene informally at the picturesque Whistling Woods Cafetaria, open until 9 pm.
The contributions towards this event will be Rs.100/- for a general audience and non-card holding GraFTII members, Rs.75/- for card holding GraFTII members and Rs.50/- for students with bonafide ID cards.
Since Whistling Woods has been kind enough to offer us the venue, the event will be open to Whistling Woods students for free.
Hope to see you there!
